Dear Dream Journal,
For the past couple of nights, I've been having semi-weird dreams. Well dreams that don’t make sense and I always wake up with a jolt like I’m going to be late to something, so I always wake myself up with a jolt and then can never go back to sleep.
Tonight my dream was that I was a warrior, like Perseus Jackson in the Last Olympian kind of warrior; I had a mission to kill all the monsters. But apparently, when I killed the last one, I actually didn’t have to kill that one, I was just supposed to just knock in unconscious, but that didn’t happen. I sliced its neck like Sweeny Todd did to all his barber patients, and I was underneath it, so I got Monster guts all over me. I quickly washed myself off and then grabbed all my belongings and my little 17 year old brother Ryan was there holding my bags he told me, “Alaire, killing the monster probably wasn’t such a good idea, so we better run.” So we did. I grabbed my sword and all the money that was lying by the monster and ran.
We ran to my house back in Texas, but it wasn’t really my house, it was somebody else’s house that was similar to mine. Somehow on the way back to the house, the dream changed, and my situation changed. I wasn’t running away from the warrior counsel, I was running away from my family and I wasn’t running with my brother anymore. I just had a huge fight with my dad again, and I knew he didn’t want me to be with the love of my life, so I was going to run away and not have to deal with them. I am an adult; I know how to be on my own. I don’t know if I was going to run to my love’s house, or just run away but regardless, I had to be sneaky and somehow get into my house without anyone knowing that I was there. I got into my room and I started frantically trying to find clothes and money and other things I needed to be on the road, but seriously I was just stuffing crap into bags. I thought I was being sneaky too, but then my little 11 year old brother just walked into my room like nothing was wrong and asked me when we were leaving. He helped me finish packing, and I grabbed flashlights. I thought that was a good idea. So Flynn helped me finish up, and I look down and I’m wearing clothes like this*and Flynn was wearing Western clothes too and he was wearing weird boots, not like cowboy boots, but girl boots! It was weird. So I put on my cowboy boots and said, “Come on Flynn, let’s go.” Weird that I was wearing clothes like that. I felt pretty though, and my hair was all pretty just like in the picture.
Anyway, we began trying to go out of my house, but my dogs were being super loud. But they weren’t my dogs, they were yappy Chihuahuas. So I stuffed them into the refrigerator to shut them up, thinking, “Yeah this will probably kill them, oh well. Shut up yappy Chihuahuas!” We went through the garage and started running. We ran down my street and I saw my dad looking for food in a fridge, and I realized that we didn’t grab any food, so I didn’t know how we would survive for that long. But we kept running anyway. It started raining really hard, and my neighborhood started flooding, but we didn’t get wet at all. Flynn and I keep running and in my peripheral vision I see that my other family members were following us in the van, so I was like, “Fine, we better get in with them.” That part doesn’t make sense to me, wasn’t I trying to run away from my family? Oh well. Flynn and I got into the van, and my mom said, “We were wondering when we would run into you.” And then it just kept pouring down rain, and the floods came up even higher. We saw all these cars floating away, and busses turned over. It was quite weird, because we don’t have buses or bridges in Sugar Land; it looked like we were in San Francisco or someplace like that. So I’m looking at all these stalled out cars and then I jolt myself awake thinking, “OH NO I HAVE TO FINISH MY HOMEWORK!” and it was 3:30 in the morning, and it’s true, I do have to finish my homework. And that’s my first dream that I remember since I’ve been here.
